Artist Statement: Being a long-time resident of the Peace Region gives ample opportunity to view some of the iconic features of our landscape – big skies, and canola fields. This day-to-day exposure can make you desensitized to the unique bright yellow fields and fast-moving cloud formations we live amongst. The vast bright colored canola fields look unnatural in the landscape and in this piece, I wanted to showcase those features in a bold, energetic way. Through this work I hope to share with others the special qualities of our region to inspire and conserve.
