Artist Statement: It’s a well known fact that sunflowers are named so because of their heliotropic nature. That is, the face of the sunflower is known to follow the sun throughout the day. In this moment we are observing that very nature in action. Again I decided to use an unusual perspective of a sunflower both in its positioning and the time of day. The back of the sunflower has its own unique beauty and the intense colour of sunset allows me to consider what is to come next within a life cycle.
