Artist Statement: Many of my painting begin with the inspiration, at this time it was sunflowers and I looked for something that inspired me. While the largest portion of the painting is the sunflower, its actually the honeybee that is the most important element for me. As the bee gathers and pollinates it gives the flower purpose beyond the aesthetic. Prized for their beauty, flowers would not be possible if not for the humble bee.
