Artist Statement: I noticed the beauty of the complex patterns in the poplar leaves and branches. The limbs reach out at various angles to touch and cross and dissolve into masses of colour and shadow. Intriguing to study, challenging, for me, to simplify, understand and state in pastel on paper. Frustrating. Delightful.
