Artist Statement: Inspired by my late uncle, Chief Tony Hunt. Classic Northwest Coast forms lines from my family on North Vancouver Island. My uncle told me to create the world around me, and during creating this piece I had two young ravens living on my backyard. I named one “Eyahze” which means Raven in Dene. A lot of my work to date has been dark with Covid-19. I would love to see the sun shine down on all of us again. This is why I chose the sun.
