Erín Moure

Translation: Wild Words for the North

Erín Moure says translation takes place in multiple ways, and this workshop will focus on translating land into words (in many languages). After giving some examples from her translation The Uplands, Erín will guide the participants in a translation exercise. When the workshop ends, participants have the opportunity to create a short poem that translates some aspect of the land they live in, and bring it to read at the public reading event with Erín on Sunday September 27. Reading one’s poem is optional.

Participants will receive a copy of Erín’s newest book of translations of poetry (from Galician, a language of the NW of Spain), The Uplands: Book of the Courel and Other Poems, by the great 20th century poet of land and habitation, Uxío Novoneyra.

This workshop is now full. If you would like to be placed on a wait list, email edplrac@gmail.com
