Artist Statement: I created this piece during the first Covid-19 lockdown. My thoughts at the time were scrambled and full of anxiety since I had just shut down my small business. Starting a new project gave me purpose and helped to block the constant feelings of dread. Inspiration to create this piece came while exploring an old property homestead. The main cabin was full of clutter with a single window illuminating a pile of old sheds and skulls. It was a beautiful tangled mess! I wanted this piece to be dark, with deep contrast to highlight the subtle way in which light brings objects to life. This piece represents my search for hope or light at the end of the tunnel during a time of uncertainty.
