Frequently Asked Questions About the Open Sky Exhibition:

Q – Is this a virtual or in-person exhibition?
A – Open Sky takes place in person at the Chetwynd Rec Center AND online at https://opensky.peaceliardarts.org/
Artists residing in the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality have the option to take part in the virtual exhibition only.

Q – Will the jurors be at the exhibition?
A –  The jurors adjudicate through a virtual process based on the submitted photos and are not present at the physical exhibition.

Q – Is there a theme for the Open Sky Exhibition?
A – NO. Artwork exploring all themes and subjects is welcome. Provided they are not offensive to the public.

Q – What kinds of artwork are accepted?
A – ALL visual mediums are accepted. Including painting, ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, and traditional arts, including but not limited to carving, beadwork, tufting, weaving, as well as found objects, photography, collage, and more! The possibilities are limitless.

Q – Do I have to be a member of Arts North East to submit art to the Open Sky Exhibition?
A – No, although it is encouraged. Membership is $25/year, or pay what you can. Artists choosing not to become members pay $10 per piece submitted. Arts North East members pay an annual membership fee but do not pay submission fees for any ANE programs.

Open Sky will take place at the
Chetwynd Rec Centre’s Tamarack Hall
and is co-hosted by the Chetwynd Community Arts Council.

Where do I drop off my art for the Open Sky Exhibition?

There are three drop-off locations throughout the region:

Option 1) Dawson Creek Art Gallery
816 Alaska Ave, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 4T6.
Artwork accepted from May 26th to June 6th.
Open Tuesday to Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Open 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays

Option 2) Chetwynd District Office
5400 Hospital Rd, Chetwynd, BC V0C 1J0
Artwork accepted from May 26th to June 6th
Open Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Option 3) Fort Nelson
5311 51 Street, Fort Nelson.
Artwork accepted from May 28th to June 4th.
