Artist Statement:

Atlin Lake, Northwestern BC, evokes a sense of wonder and mystery. There appear to be layers of hidden meaning to the ancient rock and mountain forms that rise out of the water. The misty atmosphere adds to this aura, giving the landscape a magical quality which is beautiful and compelling. The beauty seems to lay in Nature’s ever-changing character which is different with each evolving moment and which we share. Like the misty rock formations, water and clouds, we are also constantly evolving, right down to the cells which make up our physical being and the thoughts which pass through our mind. As Ernesto Morales, an Argentinian artist, said in an interview, “Clouds are elusive, they have no consistency, you can’t catch hold of them; moreover their strength lies there, they are a great metaphor of our thought that changes and transforms itself.” *I find this statement to be true, not just when referring to clouds, but the entire mystical environment on Atlin Lake.
