Artist Statement: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant rise of Asian hate crimes against Asian-Canadians, especially against women. Every Canadian has the right to feel safe leaving their home, but unfortunately, this isn’t the case for many minority communities. I painted this piece to stand in solidarity with the Asian-Canadian communities, and to highlight the beauty they bring to our country.
