OPEN SKY ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Submission Guidelines
The Open Sky Artist in Residence program supports any visual artist residing in northeast BC or a visual artist who is a member of an arts council supported by the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council (PLRAC).

The successful applicant will gain experience installing and curating an exhibition and will be provided with studio space within the Open Sky – Peace Liard Regional Art Exhibit, held at the Visitor Center in Tumbler Ridge, BC. The Artist in Residence is a representative of the show and is responsible for welcoming and interacting with the public.

OS AIR Program Provides the Artist with the Following:

1. Subsistence fee of $3,000 for a working period of May 5th to May 31st, 2022.
2. Studio space in the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Center, as well as a display area during Open Sky Art Exhibition.

Eligibility Guidelines:
1. Artist must reside in northeast BC or be a member of an arts council supported by the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council.
2. Artist must be on site at the Tumbler Ridge Visitor Center from 10:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday to Friday from May 6th to May 30th, and must be available for four hours on May 5th and May 31st to assist with installing and striking the exhibition.
3. The artist must be comfortable interacting with visitors.

Application Guidelines:
1. Curriculum Vitae (maximum three pages)
2. Artist Bio and Statement (150 words maximum for each)
3. Description of proposed work (150 words maximum)
4. 3 to 5 images (a maximum of 1 MB file size each, jpeg format with a resolution of 72dpi at 1024 x 768 pixels) of recent work. Images must be labeled with a number_title_lastname (example: 01_Nemo_Smith).
5. Image List with image numbers, artist name, title of work and date, medium and dimensions

How to Submit your Application:
1. Send application by email attachments to edplrac@gmail.com . Documents must be in Word or PDF format, and images in JPG format
2. Deadline for application is March 31st, 2022

Applications will be assessed by a committee panel according to the following criteria:

Artistic Merit

• The artistic quality of your work
• The potential artistic outcomes

Availability
• Artist must be available during requested timeframe

Impact

The potential of the project to:
• contribute to your artistic development
• advance your artistic practice

Feasibility
• Your capacity and experience to undertake the project
